Whilst visiting, get a taste of the daily life of the Royal Mail Hotel by joining the kitchen garden and wine cellar tours, native wildlife experiences and walks around the property.
All tours need to be pre-booked the evening prior at reception.
Kitchen Garden Tours
Chef led kitchen garden tours at 10am and are $15 per person for hotel guests. Learn about the sustainable food philosophies that guide Robin Wickens’ menus. Allow 45 minutes.
For the ultimate introduction to your Wickens dinner, join the Evening Garden Tour. Leaving from reception at 4:30pm from Wednesday to Saturday, this tour includes a Garden Cocktail to start your night off right.
Wine Cellar Tours
Wine cellar tours are guided by the Royal Mail Hotel’s sommeliers, leaving at 3.30pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It includes a comparative wine tasting, set amongst the hotel’s 28,000 bottle collection. $25 per person. Allow 30 minutes.
For the wine enthusiasts, join the Premium Wine Tasting. Led by our sommeliers, the tasting will showcase six iconic wines from the cellar that are drinking exceptionally well now, plus provide an insight into the 28,000 bottle inventory and impressive history. These tastings are available from Wednesday to Saturday, at 5pm. $100 pp.
Native Wildlife Tours
Learn about our captive breeding program and environmental initiatives and get up close and personal with endangered native Australian animals. The wildlife feeding tours are held Monday to Saturday at 4.30pm.
A heritage-listed River Red Gum, estimated to be 418 years old, is located on the Royal Mail Hotel Mount Sturgeon property. It has at one time fallen over and continued to grow with the main branches now forming the canopy.
Follow the 45 minutes loop trail and see this amazing piece of history, views of Mount Sturgeon and native wildlife. Ask reception for directions.
