Dunkeld is a small regional town, located 3 hours west of Melbourne, at the southern end of the Grampians National Park.
The Grampians National Park is renowned for rugged mountain ranges, rich cultural heritage and breathtaking views. And it’s on our doorstep. The Grampians boasts a healthy population of kangaroos, wallabies, emus, reptiles, birds and more than a third of Victoria’s endemic flora, with over 1000 species of wildflowers blooming in spring.
Additionally, Dunkeld is also close to the townships of Hamilton (25 minutes), Port Fairy (1 hour), Halls Gap (45 minutes) and Ballarat (1 hour 40 minutes).

Walks in the Grampians
Walking and hiking tracks within close proximity to the hotel include, Mount Sturgeon (7km return), Mount Abrupt (6.5km return) and Piccanniny (2.4km return). Dunkeld Arboretum
Enjoy the short stroll from the hotel to the Dunkeld Arboretum. This well-loved sanctuary has a walking track that meanders past magnificent red gums, a series of small lakes that are crossed by timber bridges and a small pier that provides views of the surrounding mountains. Porch Sessions in Dunkeld
Royal Mail Hotel's Mt Sturgeon Homestead in Dunkeld welcomes Adelaide's award-winning traveling backyard music festival; The Porch Sessions, for one memorable night of live music and great vibes.
