World’s 50 Best visits Dunkeld

We were thrilled to be part of the epic ‘Worlds 50 Best Restaurants’’ event that descended on Melbourne in early June. This event had only ever been held in New York and London, so it was a huge coup for Tourism Australia to attract the event to our shores. A gala event on April 5 featured the countdown of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants and announced the recipients of many deserving Special Awards.

In the days leading up to the gala, we welcomed a group of chefs, media and judges who visited the Royal Mail as part of a regional Victorian food and wine extravaganza! The group helicoptered in after harvesting salt with the team from Mt Zero Olives at Dimboola’s famous Pink Lake. Our time with the group started with a wander through our cellar before settling into the Dining Room for a very special menu created just for the event by Executive Chef, Robin Wickens. After a well earnt nights rest in our Deluxe Rooms and a delicious breakfast, we headed out to the kitchen garden for a beautiful morning spent hearing about how we manage and celebrate our own grown produce.

Suitably impressed, the guests boarded the choppers and departed for Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road. What a trip!
